This is the fourth commercial in the Nike Become Legendary campaign and probably my favorite. Any spot that works in N.C. State’s 1983 NCAA Championship is a winner for me. Nike also throws shout outs to Appalachian St., the ’85 Villanova championship team, JT III, guys working out at night, and MJ. The Boise St. football team is shown practicing the statue of liberty play at one point in the commercial, a good look for the school, players, and coaching staff except:

For Boise State, the commercial includes a simulation of the Broncos practicing the Statue of Liberty play at Bronco Stadium. The footage was not shot at Bronco Stadium and does not include any Boise State players. The stadium is a digital re-creation. Nike couldn’t use footage of the actual play without jeopardizing some players’ eligibility (that’s why the running back is No. 33 in the reenactment).

The NCAA strikes again. There’s no way to allow the original game footage in a commercial? Or worse than that, the damn jersey number?!? The NCAA doesn’t mind turning a profit from using the image and likeness of the student-athletes, but they’ll be damned if anyone else, especially the athlete, benefits.

When it comes to kicks, I’m a simple man. I rock sneakers and hard bottoms, but I like my shoes to be 1 color.. Usually.. When I feel like living a little, I’ll pick up some Nikes or Adidas with 2-3 colors.Back in the day, when I could still play a little pick-up ball, I liked ballin’ in these the most. Now that I’m old and fat, I’m not gonna be ballin in anything, so I just like looking at the shoes and talkin ish.

Stephon Marbury and Ben Wallace get the most credit because of the affordable shoe movement, and D-Wade scores the lowest in the design department… And Nike needs to come out with a new ad campaign, “Just Joking”, with those f’n prices.I didn’t put up the KG, Duncan, and Billups shoes because they’re in the Brotherhood, so all of the shoes are basically the same.

For the record, I would rock the Melos and the Kobe IIs (preferably in all black), but not the Kobe IIIs.
