Chad Johnson of the Cincinnati Bengals plays guest editor in Wednesday’s edition of ESPN the Magazine and puts to rest any thoughts of him suiting up for another team. The man that many thought would never set foot on the field in Cincy again says he could be back as early as next week’s minicamp.

From ESPN the Magazine via The Enquirer:

“Am I coming back? Of course I am. I told my coaches I’m going to California to act, but the truth is I may come back to the Bengals as early as June,” Johnson writes. “I may be crazy but I’m not stupid.”

Sounds good. But please believe, Chad’s only doing this to avoid being fined. He could lose up to $800,000 if he no-shows according to the NFL’s collective bargaining agreement, so he has to play nice while still wanting out of the Nati. Here’s some examples of Ocho Cinco towing the company line from the ESPN the Mag article.

“If we want to be like Indy and New England, we have to pay for difference-makers on defense. Our offense is fine. But if they’re fussing about paying me, a guy among the league’s best, you know damn well the Bengals aren’t (going to) give the defense what it needs. So I just said, `If we aren’t (going to) do what we need to do to win, can I please leave?’ It’s simple. I just told (them): `If y’all won’t change then I have to.’”

“Management told me I had a bad year. I was asked to stop being me. Okay, but how does that work? I am what some people would say is the face of Cincinnati.”

“If I can get out of Cincinnati, the sky’s the limit. What could I do in a place like Philadelphia or Dallas? It would be ridiculous. It’s (going to) be like a whole new me, like Ocho Cinco 2.0. Yeah, I like that. Ocho Cinco 2.0.”

I’m a Chad Johnson fan so I’m hoping he shows up at Cincinnati’s minicamp and acts like a professional. Everybody knows he wants out so there’s no reason to poison the locker room with his personal beef. All he needs to do is show up, work hard, and let Drew Rosenhaus work something out.. Like Chad Johnson to the Philadelphia Eagles.

This past Saturday night was a bad time to piss people off if you were youth softball umpire David Ray Kelly or Suge Knight. Kelly was involved in a heated argument during a 10-year-old girl’s league softball tournament in Tennessee, and Knight argued with some men inside and outside of a Hollywood, Ca. nightclub. Both men ended up on the losing side of their disputes.

While the story of Suge Knight getting knocked out was treated like the house landing on the Wicked Witch, umpire puncher Jonathon Rose was only greeted by the police. From WSMV.com:

Witnesses said the incident occurred after a dispute over a play at the athletic fields on Park Drive in Columbia during a 10-year-old girls’ league softball tournament game.

The altercation apparently intensified when umpire David Ray Kelly called Summertown Lady Volcanoes assistant coach Jonathan Rose a liar, according to what witnesses told police.

Police said as Kelly turned to walk away, Rose punched him and knocked him unconscious.

The game was canceled after the fight, and Rose was arrested on charges of aggravated assault. The saddest part of the story is that the Lady Volcanoes have been kicked out of the league because of an assistant coach with a mean hook. The parents hope to put the team back together under a new name.

I don’t think a name change will help Suge live this down.

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo is on the roll of a lifetime. Not only has he landed the premier qb job in the NFL, he’s been able to parlay it into $67 million dollars and a harem of Hollywood hotties.. Seriously, he must be promising these chicks record deals or Oscar winning movie roles. Tony’s been the starter in Dallas for about a year, but he’s already giving Tom Brady and Derek Jeter a run for their bangin hot celebs money.

Tony Romo shared the Thanksgiving holiday with Jessica Simpson, and the two were together in Hollywood this past weekend.. And by together, I mean lip locked in the middle of a Hollywood nightclub.

At first, the singer – wearing a form-fitting black dress and spike heels – and her new beau kept things low-key in a secluded booth. But as the night wore on, the two were spotted with their arms around each other. Then, after a few seconds of conversation, they leaned in for a kiss – right in the middle of the crowded club.

A few seconds of conversation? Probably something like this:

Yelling over the music

Jessica: You do what?
Tony: Play quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys..Remember?
Jessica: The who?
Tony: Kisses Jessica.

Tony had to kiss her. It’s the only way to stop Jessica Simpson from talking.
