While her contemporaries are in England battling for the Venus Rosewater Dish, Anna Kournikova is fighting strangers in a Las Vegas bar. Anna was partying at Lavo on Saturday night when a woman threw a drink on her and Anna turned into Ron Artest.

She felt Anna was invading her space,” our source said. Kournikova “sprung into action” and starting screaming at the woman and shoving her. “It was a big fight,” the spy said. The woman was kicked out only after leaving Kournikova with some vicious scratch marks on her neck.

Star treatment again. Anna invaded the woman’s space leaving the woman no option other than to throw her drink on Kournikova. And then Anna gets mad for no reason, attacks the woman, and gets her kicked to the club’s curb? That’s weak Anna.

• The Jaguars wide receiver Troy Williamson carries a serious grudge against Brad Childress

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Troy Williamson will face his old team, the Minnesota Vikings, on Sunday at Jacksonville Municipal Stadium. Most players hope to make big plays against their former teams, but Williamson is taking it to another level. He wants to fight Vikings head coach Brad Childress.

Troy is still pissed off about Childress fining him a game check for missing a week with the team when he was in South Carolina after his grandmother’s funeral. The fine was later lifted, but the fact that it happened at all put Brad Childress on Troy Williamson’s Kill Bill list.

From the Associated Press:

“We can meet on the 50-yard line and we can go at it,” Williamson said.

The 6-foot-1, 200-pound receiver said he liked his chances against Childress, too, especially with a few inches and at least 10 pounds on the coach. Williamson even said he would fight with both hands tied behind his back.

Brad Childress was asked his thoughts on the fight and responded by trying to the kill the story with some comedy.

Childress initially said he wasn’t “biting” on Williamson’s comments, but when pressed about his height and weight on a conference call, he responded: “Do you need my reach? I’m not like a woman; I’ll give you my weight. It’s 190 pounds of twisted steel and rompin’, stompin’ dynamite. Is that enough humor for you?”

Somebody needs to get in Roger Goodell’s ear and tell him to make this happen. The chain-gang can rope off an area on the 50-yard line and let the two of them go at it. It could even be a feature before every NFL game.. Each team sends a guy to the 50 for a pre-game brawl. That way we could see Joey Porter and Brandon Marshall settle their beef, Brett Favre and Ted Thompson mix it up, and most importantly, we might get some cheerleader on cheerleader action.

It seems like it was just last week that the Dallas Cowboys told Adam “Pacman” Jones to keep a low profile. Apparently Pacman doesn’t like being told what to do because he was involved in an altercation Tuesday night in a Dallas hotel.

Jones reportedly fought with the bodyguard he was given by the Cowboys in order to keep himself out of trouble. It was a good plan in theory, but this is Pacman we’re talking about.

The unidentified body guard told CBS 11 sources that Jones is prone to bad mood swings when he has been drinking. According to the body guard, he was using a urinal when Jones came inside and stuck him in an unprovoked attack. He also said he hit Jones back.

Police investigated, but did not arrest anyone. “To have an offense generated, you have to have a complainant,” said Dallas Police Lt. Anthony William. “In this particular case there wasn’t a complainant.”

Sources say Jones went outside and left the hotel without paying his tab. He was reportedly with a woman who drove the two away from the scene.

The original story also says that a mirror was broken in the bathroom, and hotel security had to break up the brawl.. But there was no offense generated? We’ll see what NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell says about that.

The source says that the problem started because the babysitter popped off to Jones’ female companion. Jones, who had been drinking, then started up with the guy, and it culminated in a scuffle.

Pacman’s an idiot. Remember when he wanted people to stop calling him Pacman? Like that was gonna change anything. Any time he’s gone to court he’s been referred to as Adam Jones and that didn’t keep him from F’n up so why would a name change? I was all for Pacman Jones being reinstated in the NFL and getting a second chance, but you’re not gonna hear a word from me when Goodell suspends his dumb ass for two years.

There has been talk of former Heavyweight champion Mike Tyson making a comeback in the ring or the octagon. He’s been spotted at gyms traning in what people believe is preparation for a fight. The talk is mostly rumors and wishful thinking by fight fans, but now Tyson has spoken and killed any thoughts of his return.

“No, I’m finished with fighting. I’m done,” he answered quickly.

Boxers seem like the athletes that have the hardest time letting go of the game. I hope Mike means it, but with his financial problems I wouldn’t rule out Tyson boxing Evander Holyfield, fighting Kimbo Slice, or wrestling an alligator. Everybody knows he would lose all three but people would still pay to watch.

A member of the Louisiana-Monroe women’s basketball team has been expelled from the school for firing a handgun on campus. Sophomore Regena Jackson, the fourth leading scorer for the Warhawks this past season, was involved in a fight that led to her grabbing a 9mm.

The police report notes an interesting twist.

According to the police report, the fight started when Jackson had an argument with her girlfriend and shoved her into a wall.

When the girlfriend left, Jackson fired one shot toward the bayou, the report stated. The girlfriend returned, and the argument continued.

Police say Jackson entered the girlfriend’s dorm room at ULM’s Bayou Village Apartments with five others present. With the gun in hand, she ordered the others out of the room. The dorm resident assistant, who had arrived earlier, told police Jackson was carrying the gun under her shirt in the back waist area. The R.A. told police Jackson grabbed the weapon from her waist and advised him to leave.

Apparently Regena Jackson doesn’t approve of her girlfriends sitting in a room with more than three other people.. And she can’t stand R.A.s. A women’s basketball brawl last week, and now a female baller is going Stephen Jackson-Lonnie Baxter in the dorms. If the women add more dunking and a few seven kids from six different men stories to their resume they’ll be just as popular as their male counterparts.

UPDATE: VIEW FROM THE STANDS

The Class Low-A Midwest League matchup featured three batters hit by pitch, a fan beaned by a pitcher, and a brawl all before the second inning. It’s usually a big square dance when two baseball teams clear the benches. Justin Reed of the Dayton Dragons wasn’t in the mood for dancing.

The Los Angeles Sparks and Detroit Shock exchanged shoves in what is being dubbed “The First Brawl in WNBA History”. Cheryl Ford of the Detroit Shock and Candace Parker of the Sparks started the bad blood and with four seconds remaining in the game Plenette Pierson picked up where her teammate left off with Parker. When the dust settled three players were ejected, Rick Mahorn was ejected for shoving Lisa Leslie, and Cheryl Ford injured her knee trying to break up the skirmish. I’ll give the ladies an A for effort, but a game outdoors and a few girls pulling each other’s hair isn’t gonna create any new WNBA fans.

Manny Ramirez put his studies of the Shawn Chacon book of problem resolution to work Saturday in Houston. The Boston Red Sox outfielder had a dispute with the team’s traveling secretary which ended with Manny shoving the employee to the ground.

Manny Ramirez shoved Red Sox traveling secretary Jack McCormick to the ground in an argument over Ramirez’ ticket allotment. Several onlookers moved quickly to separate the two.

Ramirez had asked McCormick for 16 tickets for Saturday night’s Red Sox-Astros game, an unusually high number for day-of-game.

When McCormick cautioned Ramirez that he might not be able to fulfill his request, Ramirez responded by shouting: “Just do your job!”

An argument insued and Ramirez pushed McCormick, sending him to the ground.

Attention all MLB team employees: Watch your back in Houston. Something down there is making the players go nuts. Manny, Terry Francona, and Jack McCormick say the problem is behind them, so this will probably be chalked up to Manny being Manny (Pacquiao) again. I think Ramirez was looking ahead to this week’s series against the Tampa Bay Rays and wanted to make sure he was in fighting shape.

Houston Astros pitcher Shawn Chacon has been suspended indefinitely by the team after getting into a scuffle with general manager Ed Wade. Chacon was already angry over being moved from the starting rotation on Sunday before his confrontation with Wade. The gm’s desire to speak to Shawn Chacon in manager Cecil Cooper’s office led to an altercation.

“I sat down to eat and Ed Wade came to me and very sternly said, ‘you need to come with me to the office.’ I said ‘for what?’ I said ‘I don’t want to go to the office with you and Cooper.’ And I said ‘You can tell me whatever you got to tell me right here.’ He’s like, ‘oh, you want me to tell you right here?’ And I said, ‘yeah.’ I’m not yelling. I’m calm.”

“He started yelling and cussing,” Chacon said of Wade. “I’m sitting there and I said to him very calmly, ‘Ed, you need to stop yelling at me. Then I stood up and said ‘you better stop yelling at me.’ I stood up. He continued and was basically yelling and stuff and was like, ‘You need to (expletive) look in the mirror.’ So at that point I lost my cool and I grabbed him by the neck and threw him to the ground. I jumped on top of him because at that point I wanted to beat his (butt). Words were exchanged.”

There’s a twist, Chacon was doing the roughing up instead of being the one getting slapped around. Shawn was seeking a trade before he channeled his inner Sprewell, and now it’s only a matter of time until the Astros get rid of him. Houston should have no problem moving Chacon since teams are always trying to get their hands on guys that are 2-3 with a 5.04 ERA that will choke your ass if you tell ‘em they’re playing like crap.

This past Saturday night was a bad time to piss people off if you were youth softball umpire David Ray Kelly or Suge Knight. Kelly was involved in a heated argument during a 10-year-old girl’s league softball tournament in Tennessee, and Knight argued with some men inside and outside of a Hollywood, Ca. nightclub. Both men ended up on the losing side of their disputes.

While the story of Suge Knight getting knocked out was treated like the house landing on the Wicked Witch, umpire puncher Jonathon Rose was only greeted by the police. From WSMV.com:

Witnesses said the incident occurred after a dispute over a play at the athletic fields on Park Drive in Columbia during a 10-year-old girls’ league softball tournament game.

The altercation apparently intensified when umpire David Ray Kelly called Summertown Lady Volcanoes assistant coach Jonathan Rose a liar, according to what witnesses told police.

Police said as Kelly turned to walk away, Rose punched him and knocked him unconscious.

The game was canceled after the fight, and Rose was arrested on charges of aggravated assault. The saddest part of the story is that the Lady Volcanoes have been kicked out of the league because of an assistant coach with a mean hook. The parents hope to put the team back together under a new name.

I don’t think a name change will help Suge live this down.
