Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren appeared in Bay County Circuit Court in Panama City, Fla today to officially end their five-year marriage. Terms of the divorce were not disclosed but Elin is expected to clear $100 million in assets.
The couple released a statement via Elin’s Virginia-based attorney:

“We are sad that our marriage is over and we wish each other the very best for the future.”

“While we are no longer married, we are the parents of two wonderful children and their happiness has been, and will always be, of paramount importance to both of us.”

“Once we came to the decision that our marriage was at an end, the primary focus of our amicable discussions has been to ensure their future well-being. The weeks and months ahead will not be easy for them as we adjust to a new family situation, which is why our privacy must be a principal concern.”

It sucks for the Woods family, especially the children, but it’s better sooner than later. Now Tiger can focus a little more on golf and Elin is free to spend her hard earned money however she pleases.

Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren’s Divorce Is Final [People]

TMZ is reporting that Tiger Woods and wife Elin argued before Tiger crashed his vehicle into a fire hydrant and tree while leaving the couple’s Isleworth home. Local police say Elin Nordegren-Woods used a golf club to break out the back window of the SUV to help get Tiger from the car. When police arrived on the scene Tiger was in and out of consciousness and had cuts on his lips and blood in his mouth.

I’m gonna go out on a limb and say Tiger and Elin weren’t arguing about his club selection at the British Open. This is pretty similar to what happened with Shaq. A story broke about Shaq hookin’ up with Gilbert Arenas’ fiance and Shaunie O’Neal responded with divorce papers. I’m not saying Tiger and Elin are breaking up but an argument should’ve been expected after the National Enquirer reported Tiger was having an affair.

I thought this story had been put to rest a long time ago, and I was wrong. The Irish magazine The Dubliner has issued an official apology to Elin Nordegren Woods and agreed to pay “substantial” damages for publishing photos they claimed to be Elin Nordegren nude. I don’t know how much “substantial” is, but with Tiger Woods climbing towards a billion bucks, this isn’t about the money. It’s about clearing Elin’s name.

The golfer Tiger Woods has missed the baptism in Sweden of his three-month-old daughter, Sam, according to Swedish media reports. One source close to the family said: ““Everybody was very surprised over the fact that Tiger did not show up.”

Now, before you go off on Tiger, I’m sure he had a perfectly legitimate reason for not being at the baptism ceremony.. If being at a celebrity charity event in Los Angeles can be considered a perfectly legitimate reason… And to me it is.. He’s Tiger Woods, the world should adjust to his schedule. He can’t be expected to fly halfway around the world for some kiddy baptism when he can be out and about, partying with the likes of Terri Hatcher.
