Donovan McNabb took the field as a member of the Washington Redskins for the first time in the team’s preseason game against the Buffalo Bills last night. He played two series, went 5-8 for 58 yards and connected with Anthony Armstrong for a four-yard touchdown pass.

McNabb and Shannahan are the big story in Washington but they need to talk about the run defense too. Buffalo ran the ball 18 times for 146 yards. Chad Simpson broke one for 43 yards and Joique Bell ripped off a run of 28 yards. It’s only the first preseason game, the defense is learning a new system and there could be an Albert Haynesworth hangover, so the Skins don’t need to panic. Worrying would be OK.

Washington Redskins QB Donovan McNabb and free agent receiver Terrell Owens had a love-hate relationship in Philadelphia. Everybody knows the story but it looks like the feud is over. For reals. McNabb and TO were seen hanging in Miami during Super Bowl week and in March it was announced they’d be playing basketball together on “Pros vs. Joes.” Thanks to Dan Steinberg you can get a preview of the bros-turned-foes-turned-joes in this video.

Owens and McNabb are joined by Antonio Gates to take on Rick Fox, Hakeem Olajuwon and Kenny Smith. The game would be more interesting if they were playing football.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports the Philadelphia Eagles have agreed to trade quarterback Donovan McNabb to an NFC East division rival in the Washington Redskins. The Eagles get the Redskins’ 2nd-round pick in the 2010 draft (37th overall) and either a 3rd or 4th round pick in the 2011 draft.

Jason Campbell has to sit down Washington. Kevin Kolb has to step up in Philly. And somewhere, Michael Vick is rubbing his hands together with an evil grin on his face and saying “one down, one to go.” Donovan now has two times a year to rub the move in the face of the Eagles front office and fans.. Of course, he could prove they made the right decision.

The Philadelphia Eagles traded Lito Sheppard to the New York Jets in February of 2009 for a 5th-round pick in last year’s NFL draft and a conditional pick in the 2010 draft. Things have worked out well for Sheppard as the Jets face the Indianapolis Colts in the AFC Championship game while the Philadelphia Eagles are spending their winter vacation discussing the future of Donovan McNabb.

Seven seasons in Philadelphia give Sheppard a solid perspective when it comes to the Philly fanbase. That’s why his solution is for the team to trade its franchise quarterback.

“I’d tell them to trade [McNabb],” Sheppard said. “I think he’ll be happier, so then he won’t have to be with that cloud over his head about what people feel about him. I mean, a player plays better when he feels appreciated. Until they appreciate him, they won’t get what they want out of him.

“It’s the expectations. It’s either Super Bowl or nothing for them, and it automatically goes from the top to the bottom. . . . They just feel like he is the guy to get them over that hump, and he hasn’t to this point. It’s more frustration [from the fans] than can he get it done?

“I mean, hey, we’ll take him.”

“We’ll take him,” as in “We’d be better off with McNabb than Mark Sanchez?” Not exactly the vote of confidence a rookie QB needs heading into the biggest football game of his life but that will have to wait for another day. Lito’s right in a way. Donovan will never be fully appreciated in Philadelphia until he wins the Super Bowl and every year he doesn’t win it raises the level of unrest in a large number of Eagles fans. It sucks that McNabb’s detractors judge him by every breath he takes and that a hiccup is reason to call for his head.

McNabb faced the Dallas Cowboys on the road in the Wild Card round behind a shaky offensive line without three starters. The result was a scrambling Donovan, an ineffective offense, and calls for a change at quarterback. The Cowboys went on the road in the Divisional Round and got the treatment they gave Philly the week before. Injuries to Dallas’ offensive line, Romo turnovers, and six sacks helped the Vikings roll to a 34-3 win (Was the late TD was Childress’ way of picking up for his boy Andy Reid who got 34 dropped on him by the ‘Boys the previous week?). After the game nobody was saying Dallas needed to turn to Jon Kitna or worse, Michael Vick. Instead people looked at the game realistically and said the Cowboys weren’t as good as the Vikings. Looking at things realistically isn’t a strength of the Eagles fanbase or the media that cover the team when it comes to McNabb. If it was the focus of the offseason would be on the offensive line and the defense, not number 5.

Donovan McNabb led the Philadelphia Eagles into Cowboys Stadium for a Wildcard showdown with what looks like will be his best moves of the night. He danced and did some air-guitar before yelling at some Cowboys fans. The Eagles responded by getting beat into a 27-7 hole.

I’m surprised DeMarcus Ware didn’t pop out of nowhere to harass McNabb. He’s been all over him in the first half.

NFL training camps open in a couple of weeks, so Donovan McNabb is preparing for the grueling season and Super Bowl run the only way a man should: By hanging out at a topless pool in Vegas with porn stars. If ANYTHING goes wrong for McNabb this season, this picture will undoubtedly be the reason.

Wanna know why Donovan’s not looking at the camera? Because the porn stars outsmarted him.

This is a bad look for McNabb. Only jackasses wear Bluetooth earpieces at the pool. But let this serve as a lesson to struggling quarterbacks Matt Leinart and Vince Young. You want to be married and hanging out with topless porn stars in the offseason instead of partying in a hot tub with college chicks or taking your shirt off around a bunch of guys.

One of the longest running mini-dramas in the NFL has been put on hold now that the Philadelphia Eagles and Donovan McNabb have agreed to restructure his contract.

The new deal gives McNabb a $5.3 million bump over the next two seasons, and would seem to signal that D-Mac won’t be traded by the Birds this season.

In an obvious attempt to completely embarrass himself out of the city of Philadelphia, Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb told the world he didn’t know there were ties in the NFL. What’s worse is that D-Mac went on to say he’d hate to see a playoff game or the Super Bowl end in a tie. Apparently Donovan doesn’t know that Roger Goodell is the NFL commissioner, not Bud Selig.

The World of Issac brought in Rosie Perez to explain ties to McNabb since Donovan doesn’t have a understanding of one of the basic rules of the profession he’s been in for the past 10 years .

I’m a McNabb apologist so I’ll throw in that no. 5 wasn’t the only clueless player on the Eagles during Sunday’s overtime. Greg Lewis, Correll Buckhalter, DeSean Jackson, and Omar Gaither are all on the record for not knowing that a game could end in a tie. This proves one thing.. Hollywood sports movies are complete crap. In a sports movie the coach would gather the players and say something like “Alright fellas. We’ve got 15 minutes to win this game or our season’s over. A tie doesn’t do us any good.” Then the team would go out and play like they gave a damn and win the game in thrilling fashion. In real life guys are asking the cotdamn trainer for a rule clarification.

For everything he’s done for the franchise, Donovan McNabb’s legacy in Philly will be throwing up in the Super Bowl and not knowing ties can happen in the NFL. Maybe he’ll be able to re-write history when he’s quarterbacking in Minnesota next season.
