DON’T DISRESPECT MARK FIELD’S MOTHER

With all of the other things going on in sports I had no idea that Mark Fields was caught up in a domestic violence lawsuit. Fields is accused of beating his pregnant girlfriend in June of 2003. The abuse left the woman with permanent blindness in her left eye, paralysis of the face, and migraine headaches. I know Fields was only allegedly beating a pregnant human female, but this is disturbing nonetheless. As you can see in the above video, Mr. Fields has a very loose interpretation of “Put Your Ass 6 Feet Under”, and his concept of kicking his girlfriend in the stomach is interesting as well…

Kind of funny that for the first :50 seconds of the video Mark’s saying he didn’t kick his girlfriend in the stomach but then..

Q: So she just made up that you kicked her in the stomach?

MF: No, no…

What the hell was that? I didn’t do it , I didn’t do it, I didn’t do it, but she’s not lying… I’m not saying Mark is gonna lose the lawsuit, but it doesn’t sound good so far. The case is set to go to court in Los Angeles on September 11th.

This is a sad turn of events for a man that had the public’s support when he announced he had hodgkin’s disease. You can check out all 7 of the videos here, and you can hear Fields tell how he joked about Rae Carruth with his pregnant girlfriend at the 8:15 mark of this video.

THE CLEVELAND INDIANS HIT THE DOMESTIC VIOLENCE CYCLE

While congress is looking for the real steroid users, and the media wants to know who A-Rod is banging, the Cleveland Indians have stepped to the plate against domestic violence. Manager Eric Wedge and players C.C. Sabathia, Trot Nixon, Mike Rouse, Aaron Fultz, Jason Michaels, and Jeremy Sowers along with Kate Wedge and other wives have teamed up with the V-Day campaign to stop abuse against women and girls. The V-Day campaign’s mission is to increase awareness and raise money for anti-violence organizations.

Domestic violence is an issue that’s bigger than ‘roids, managers going ape shit, and how many black players are in MLB. Check out these statistics..1 in 3 women are beaten or raped in the world today. 1 in 6 women suffer the same fate in the United States.. Why doesn’t this get the same attention as a Don Imus or dogfighting?

It seems like every week we hear a story about a person of note, a man with some celebrity being accused of domestic violence. I know not every charge is true, but we’re only hearing the accusations against famous people. Imagine how many cases we don’t hear about.. 1 in 6 women in the United States?!? That’s disgusting. I’m glad the Indians are doing their part to stop this crime.
