LEBRON JAMES LOSES EITHER WAY

LeBron James caused a stir by wearing a Yankees hat in Cleveland, at a Yankees/Indians playoff game. In the scheme of things it didn’t matter. The Indians choked away a 3-1 lead in the ALCS, the Yanks gagged, up 3-0 in the 2004 ALCS. The only difference is that the Cleveland faithful knew deep down that their team would lose. The New York Yankees fans always believed their team was gonna win.

Another sad chapter is written in the book of Cleveland Sports Disappointments. It’s pretty amazing that one city can have the catch, the drive, the fumble, and the shot on it’s resume. If there’s any positive to be taken from this, it’s that this year’s Cleveland Browns team won’t be in position to let the fans down.

THE CLEVELAND INDIANS HIT THE DOMESTIC VIOLENCE CYCLE

While congress is looking for the real steroid users, and the media wants to know who A-Rod is banging, the Cleveland Indians have stepped to the plate against domestic violence. Manager Eric Wedge and players C.C. Sabathia, Trot Nixon, Mike Rouse, Aaron Fultz, Jason Michaels, and Jeremy Sowers along with Kate Wedge and other wives have teamed up with the V-Day campaign to stop abuse against women and girls. The V-Day campaign’s mission is to increase awareness and raise money for anti-violence organizations.

Domestic violence is an issue that’s bigger than ‘roids, managers going ape shit, and how many black players are in MLB. Check out these statistics..1 in 3 women are beaten or raped in the world today. 1 in 6 women suffer the same fate in the United States.. Why doesn’t this get the same attention as a Don Imus or dogfighting?

It seems like every week we hear a story about a person of note, a man with some celebrity being accused of domestic violence. I know not every charge is true, but we’re only hearing the accusations against famous people. Imagine how many cases we don’t hear about.. 1 in 6 women in the United States?!? That’s disgusting. I’m glad the Indians are doing their part to stop this crime.
