Minnesota Timberwolves GM David Kahn became a viral sensation after his summer league interview with Chris Webber and Matt Winer where he compared Darko Milicic to Vlade Divac and Webber. And now he’s getting even more run on Youtube thanks to the Sports Guy Bill Simmons.

@sportsguy33 called for his Twitter followers to mash this clip from “Star Trek II: The Wrath of Kahn” with any clip of David Kahn speaking. So this is what he’s been working on during his vacation from writing?

You Been Blinded’s Will R. answered the Simmons challenge with the video below. I might be biased but I think this version is better than the one the Sports Guy used in part II of his latest mailbag.

ESPN has suspended Bill Simmons‘ use of Twitter after the Sports Guy used the social networking site to blast ESPN partner radio station WEEI in Boston. The Huffington Post has screencaps of the tweets where Simmons refers to WEEI hosts as washed up athletes, fat, and deceitful scumbags.

ESPN.com editor-in-chief Rob King had this to say about the suspension:

We have internal guidelines designed to inform how we discuss the topic of sports media. These guidelines are important us, because they help maintain the credibility with which ESPN operates.

No one knows the guidelines better than Bill Simmons, and he customarily works within these standards. He also understands, as does everyone else at ESPN, that we regard these guidelines as being equally important when participating in social media.

While it’s unfortunate — and sometimes painful — that not everyone outside of ESPN chooses to play by such rules, we choose to hold ourselves to higher standards. Regardless of the provocation, Bill’s communication regarding WEEI fell short of those standards. So we’ve taken appropriate measures.

OMG. No tweeting for two weeks for calling out some fat scumbags in Boston.. Is Simmons still allowed to use Facebook and text message? I hope he at least gets to keep his Xbox and go to the big dance this weekend.

Bill Simmons is going everywhere promoting his latest work entitled The Book of Basketball: The NBA According to The Sports Guy including a second visit to The Colbert Report. Bill was first interviewed by Colbert in 2006 (Shanoff breaks down the interview) to promote “Now I Can Die In Peace.” In his latest trip to The Report Simmons says baseball is for old folks and Wilt Chamberlain is gay. Now that’s how you sell books!

“Here’s my evidence: he owned cats and he was never married. That’s it. That’s all I got.”

Can I get a ruling on starting rumors about dead basketball players? And I have to disagree about baseball being for people over 50. Extra fiber is for the 50+ club. Baseball is for everybody as long as the umpires aren’t f’n up the games. I will say it was nice of Simmons to write Now I Can Die in Peacefor the seniors.
