I’m a big fan of HBO’s The Wire. If you’ve never seen it, don’t try picking it up now during the 5th and final season.. Rent seasons 1-4 on dvd, and be prepared for a show that’s 10 times better than The Sopranos. The stories and subplots are suprisingly deep, and the way the different facets of a failing city (government, schools, drugs, media) are covered is unlike anything ever done on television.

Whether you’re a fan of The Wire or not, tell me I’m not dead on with these NBA-Wire look-a-likes.

The phrase “cancel Christmas” is just that, a phrase. It seems Dirk Nowitzki is taking it to heart after last season’s embarrassing first round playoff exit. He’s not buying anybody, including Steve Nash, a Christmas gift.. Not even a Dirk doll.. Talk about bah humbug. If Dirk Nowitzki or Baron Davis pulled your name in the secret Santa gift exchange, you got screwed.

I’ll tell ya right now.. Baron Davis better come with some better gift ideas than books if he’s trying to get a laptop, iphone or a beachcruiser.. I know it’s supposedly the thought that counts, but Terri Hatcher’s gonna be pissed if she shells out 2gs on a lapper in exchange for the latest Harry Potter book..

A dunk only counts as 2 points, and the Warriors are winless on the season, but Baron Davis is picking up where he left off in the playoffs.. I hope Baron can keep this up for a full 82 games. If the injury gods would get off of BD for a season, he could be an MVP candidate.
