THE BIG CRIME CONFERENCE

bigsky.JPG

The Big Sky Conference, also known as the mini-NFL, is the home to Eastern Washington, Idaho, Montana, Montana State, Northern Arizona, Northern Colorado, Portland State, Sacramento State, and Weber State. Not exactly the schools that one would think of first when naming criminal infested sports programs, but don’t sleep. The Big Sky puts in work.

The most famous jailbird from the BSC is Mitch Cozad, the former Northern Colorado backup punter that stabbed the starting punter in an attempt to become the starting punter, but there have been plenty of other arrest in the conference. Sensing that it had been over a week since anybody from the Big Sky had been to the big house, a few University of Montana football players decided to do something about it.

Felony kidnapping, assault with a weapon and robbery charges landed three University of Montana football players in Missoula County jail early Sunday morning. Missoula police waited until the Grizzlies returned to campus after their Saturday game in Pocatello, Idaho, to arrest freshman cornerback Jeremy Pate, junior running back Greg Coleman and junior defensive end Michael Shelton.

According to the jail, 19-year-old Pate was arrested on charges of aggravated assault, aggravated kidnapping, burglary and robbery. Coleman, 22, was booked on charges of assault with a weapon, kidnapping, burglary and robbery. And Shelton, 21, was arrested on charges of assault with a weapon, burglary and two counts of robbery.

At least the 3 of them got to see a football game before going to jail.

And.. You guys know me.. I’m always looking for the bright side of things.. Well, there was one positive to come from this story. Andy Reid’s sons, Brit and Garrett, have said that upon their release from jail, they’re turning over new leaves, and enrolling at the University of Montana.

O.J. SIMPSON’S TOP TEN EXCUSES

David Letterman owns Jay Leno in my book, but I don’t watch either anymore. One of the staples of the Letterman show has always been the top ten list. Since Dave had Michael Vick’s top ten excuses, you knew he had to hit O.J. Simpson.

JESUS CHRIST O.J.

old-school-oj.jpgIf somebody was lucky enough to get away with a high profile double murder, you’d think they would want to avoid the spotlight by all means.. They wouldn’t write books about how the murders could have happened or do internet tv interviews. They wouldn’t always wind up in the news and the damn sure wouldn’t break the law.

Enter Orenthal James Simpson. He loves the spotlight. He has to. There’s no other way to explain how he’s always caught up in some shit. Simpson has had to talk to the police 7 times since he beat the murder charge. 7. I haven’t heard about Robert Blake so much as jaywalking.. Of course, Robert Blake’s not guilty decision wasn’t to White people what the Stoudemire/Diaw suspensions were to Suns fans, but still, all of the White anger in the country couldn’t have O.J. bumping into da Boys this much.

2000: Called 911 about his girlfriend that was supposedly high on cocaine. He also mentioned Pedro Guerrero and his drug case numerous times.

O.J. was allegedly kicked and slapped by a girlfriend at the Miami Wyndham hotel, but no charges were filed.

2001: O.J. was cleared of all charges stemming from an alleged road rage incident.

O.J.’s house was raided because he was stealing DirectTv. He ended up paying $58k in damages and lawyer fees.

2003: Simpson’s daughter Sydney called 911 about an “abuse thing”. No charges were filed.

2005: O.J. was at a neighbor’s house when the police are called to the scene about a fight. No charges are filed.

2007: O.J. faces two counts of robbery with a deadly weapon, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit a crime and burglary with a firearm.

Let’s face it, O.J. needs to be locked up… So he can be protected from his damn self. At the pace he’s on, I could see “Suicide By Cop” in mid 2008.
