Congratulations to the Boston Red Sox for winning the 2007 World Series. It looked like they were dead, down 3-1 to the Cleveland Indians in the ALCS, but I should have known better. That’s exactly where the Sox wanted to be. Since they rallied back against a 2004 Yankees team that was better than the ‘07 Indians, Boston knew they could win. Plus, it was Cleveland.
If any team in MLB is built to turn a series around quickly, it’s the Boston Red Sox. Josh Beckett’s stuff gets nastier as the situation gets more crucial. Curt Schilling is able to muster up 5 good innings when he truly needs to, and the bullpen, since locking Eric Gagne in a deep freezer, is pretty much lights out. The offense is loaded with stars like Manny Ramirez and David Ortiz, and the ultra clutch Mike Lowell, and the kids, Dustin Pedroia and Jacoby Ellsbury play like seasoned vets.
So hats off to the Boston Red Sox, the 2007 World Series champions…
And speaking of Boston, what a time to be fan in that city? Boston College is #2 in college football, the New England Patriots are going Mike Tyson in his prime on the rest of the league, and Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Ray Allen give the Celtics the their best look at the NBA Finals in yeeears. Can you imagine if Boston College wins the BCS championship, the Patriots win the Super Bowl, and then the Celtics get the summer rolling with an NBA title? Thank Jeezus it won’t happen. Boston holding 4 championships at the same time is believed by most to signal the begin of Hell on Earth.
