Former NBA Player Bonzi Wells Averaging 46 Points Per Game in China

Bonzi Wells Is Torching The Chinese Basketball Association

Former NBA player Bonzi Wells dropped 52 in his latest game for Shanxi Zhongyu

Bonzi Wells averaging 46.8 points per game in Chinese Basketball Association

Former NBA player Bonzi Wells made his Chinese Basketball Association debut one week ago for Shanxi Zhongyu with 48 points, 11 boards, and seven steals. He scored 52 points and had 14 rebounds, including 13 of the team’s 18 points in overtime, in leading his team to victory last night. Bonzi Wells in China = NBA Live.

The Chinese CBA is just like our old CBA but worse. Bonzi explained his hot streak to the media:

“The coach is giving me a lot of space, in the NBA I was never able to play so freely,” Wells, 32, said after Sunday’s game through a Chinese translator.

“Since college until now, it has been a long time since I’ve been able to play this freely.”

Shanxi is currently in 10th place in the CBA at 10-9, having won two and lost two with Wells in the line-up.

Yeah.. That’s it Bonzi.. You could’ve been averaging damn near 50 in the league, but you weren’t allowed to play freely.. Yeah man.. But this does bring up an interesting dilemma for NBA players. Bonzi’s only pulling in 40gs for playing in China, but he’s averaging 46.8 points per game. A guy like Kobe might get $50 mil to ball in Europe, but if a Chinese team offered him $2 million and the chance to average 2000 points per game which do you think he would pick?

Everyone always have something negative to say about others and probably need to take a good look at theirselves. Yes Bonzi is torching it over there, and maybe the talent level isn’t the best, but anytime you can put up numbers like that in a professional league it’s commendable. Under the right system he has proven to be an outstanding NBA player, it’s not his game that needed improvement it was his maturity level. You don’t miss your well until its dry, but here’s his time to get himself together and prove that he can be a good professional athlete. Who knows he still has the skills to play a couple more years in the NBA, and alot of teams could use him. Believe it or not people can change.

He’s been selfish and arrogant since he entered the NBA. Now he wants to say that he’s learned his lesson, I don’t think so. You are 32yrs old and basically a has-been. Don’t beg to get back in the NBA because you miss the money. You bit the hand that fed you and you want to say “I’m sorry”. Enjoy China you idiot and remember that it didn’t work for JR Rider either.

Damn… that’s too bad. I always thought Wells had a sneaky playground like sick skill level. He reminds me a little of Will Bynum in that he does shifty things on the court most other players are conditioned not to do because they seem “playgroundish”. Like looking away to make a ball handler pass the ball to the guy you’re defending just to intercept it. I remember seeing him do that on an inbound pass play.
