Amanda Rodrigues, the wife of boxer Arturo Gatti, is being held in Brazil as the only suspect in Gatti’s death. Police believe Rodrigues strangled Gatti with her purse strap while the 37-year-old retired fighter slept.
Arturo and Amanda’s relationship was an argument filled mess according to some close to the couple. They were in Brazil on a second honeymoon in hopes of saving their marriage, but apparently Amanda came up with a new plan.
When the details of the Steve McNair murder surfaced there were a number of people saying “I wonder if this situation will make professional athletes think twice about cheating on their wives?”, as if no non-athlete husbands cheat on their spouses. Now are they gonna say “I wonder if this situation will make professional athletes think twice about getting married?” Which is an equally stupid statement. The real bottom line is ALL of us have to have a solid vetting process. You let that crazy person slip through and the next thing you know you’re waking up dead.
