USC played a suspect game and escaped with a 14-9 victory over an Arizona State team that started a “not ready” freshman at quarterback in the second half. The switch was made because ASU’s starting QB threw a pick six for SC’s first touchdown. The Trojans’ Matt Barkley threw an interception that he should be proud of. It’s gonna keep him in the highlights for a long time.
Bananas right? Here’s a breakdown of what happened from Gary Klein of the LA Times:
— a Matt Barkley pass that was tipped by Arizona State linebacker Mike Nixon, bobbled … and bobbled … and bobbled again by receiver Brice Butler, then batted high in the air when Ryan McCoy hit Butler, and then grabbed by Clint Floyd and returned to USC’s 36 yard line.
Play. Of. The. Year.
